Common questions
Answers before you commit
A standard 4 kW residential system generally lands between £5,500 and £8,000 fitted, depending on roof complexity, scaffolding access and panel choice. Adding battery storage typically increases that by £3,000 to £5,000. Your survey produces a fixed written quote — the price we give is the price you pay, with no variation for scaffolding or DNO paperwork.
Most residential solar installs are completed within one to three days on site, including scaffolding. Battery storage adds roughly half a day. Heat pumps usually take two to four days because of radiator and cylinder work. From signed quote to switch-on, allow around four to six weeks — most of that is DNO notification and scheduling, not the work itself.
East and west-facing roofs perform well — typically 80 to 85% of a south-facing equivalent, and they spread generation across the morning and evening, which often suits household usage better. Genuinely north-facing pitches rarely stack up financially, and we'll say so rather than sell you a system. Partial shading can often be handled with panel-level optimisers.
Very little. Panels are self-cleaning in most UK rainfall, and there are no moving parts. We recommend an annual performance check and an inverter inspection every few years. Our remote monitoring flags underperformance automatically, so in practice we often spot an issue and call you before you've noticed anything on your bill.
Yes — through the Smart Export Guarantee. Rates vary considerably between suppliers, so it's worth comparing rather than defaulting to your current one. We register your system and provide the MCS certificate you'll need to apply. A battery usually beats exporting, since using your own power is worth more than the export rate.
Entirely. We check eligibility for ECO4, Warm Homes and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme during your survey, then complete and submit the paperwork on your behalf. You'll need to supply proof of benefits or property ownership, but we handle everything else including the compliance documentation and TrustMark lodgement.
